Mission Statement: “ECOG youth ministry focuses on allowing young people to seek the face of God, develop them to Christ like maturity, enable them to serve and worship Him with all their hearts, and equip them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world, in order to magnify God’s name.”

Isaiah 40:31 declares, “They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Building its philosophy of ministry upon this Scripture, the youth ministry at Ebenezer provides young people the opportunity to wait upon God in order that each individual becomes passionate about his/her walk with the Lord. Ministries such as Friday Night Youth Prayer (FNYP), Saturday night worship, weekly Sunday night service (Lighthouse), Sunday morning English worship, along with personal visitation and counsel from the youth pastor and his wife allow young people to realize their potential in God and find God’s will for their lives. FNYP provides opportunity for young people to take turns leading worship and sharing from God’s Word. Moreover, a quality time is spent for the spiritual development with individual attention given to each person as they share about their personal walk with the Lord. Pastor Denny believes in empowering young people so that they are able to make wise and godly decisions as they are faced with difficult circumstances which question their faith and put it to the test. In order for young people to overcome such temptations, they must sit at the feet of Jesus and allow him to renew their strength personally and corporately. Further, Lighthouse is a ministry primary focused on fulfilling the great commission of Christ (Matt. 28:18-20) by opening our doors to the immediate community to receive the good news of Jesus and further provides opportunities to youth for evangelism and outreach. With major emphasis given to worship, fellowship, and discipleship, the Lord has saved many souls through this ministry and we are seeking for a greater harvest in the days ahead.

To ensure that the youth activities are relevant and effective for the youth, a “Planning meeting” is held with members consisting of all interested youth from the church to openly share their desires and inputs. As a result, the activities and events planned all come from the heart of the young people themselves. This allows young people to learn a variety of skills in areas of leadership, communication, organization, and responsibility.

Moreover, the youth at Ebenezer are encouraged to exercise their God given gifts and talents and develop them for the Glory of God. Our monthly (2nd week) Saturday night gathering, “Family Training Hour” (FTH) is a place where children and young people are trained to speak, sing, prepare sermons, memorize Scripture, etc.; this service also hosts “Focus on Family Issues” with monthly presentations on necessary topics on building up a godly family. Bro. Jaison Daniel, the FTH director, provides leadership for these meetings. Next, our quarterly youth newsletter, “The Messenger” also provides young people and children the opportunity to exercise their gifts of writing articles, poems, and illustrating various spiritual arts to the glory of God. This newsletter has brought out many writers, poets, and artists from among the youth of ECOG. We thank God for dedicated members of the Messenger team for all their hard work in making this publication into a reality.

Next, the creation of a children’s choir (Children’s Ministries) provides a wonderful opportunity for our up and coming musicians and singers (up to age 14) to play their instruments and sing for the Lord at the same time learn the responsibilities of becoming worship leaders in the church for the future. We thank God for our Children’s Ministry directors, sis. Jesly George, and sis. Elizabeth Mathew, and the Children’s Ministry Team for giving further leadership to the Children’s ministry at ECOG. Finally, our newest endeavor, “Soldiers of Christ” (SOC) is a ministry focused on developing Christ’ likeness in attitude and character of middle school adolescent students to ensure that they grow up with a passion to resist sin and serve God as they step into adulthood and begin their teen years.

All in all, we seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to do all that God desires, to ensure that the body of Christ continues to fulfill the great commission.
